Game Informer landed an exclusive first-look at the long-awaited Guitar Hero: Metallica, and the friendly forum-dwellers over at Score Hero were quick to mine the article of all the succulent details. Unsurprisingly, the Metallica-branded rhythm game follows the Guitar Hero World Tour paradigm, allowing players to take up guitar, drums, bass, or vocals. Also -- like Guitar Hero: Aerosmith before it -- this game's roughly 45-song tracklist will be comprised of more than just Metallica songs, including other bands that have been influential throughout the metal group's nearly 30-year history.

Score Hero lists the following songs as confirmed Guitar Hero: Metallica tracks:

* "Enter Sandman" by Metallica
* "For Whom The Bell Tolls" by Metallica
* "Fuel" by Metallica
* "Hit The Lights" by Metallica
* "King Nothing" by Metallica
* "Master of Puppets" by Metallica
* "No Leaf Clover" by Metallica
* "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica
* "Sad But True" by Metallica
* "The Unforgiven" by Metallica
* "Where I May Roam" by Metallica
* "No Excuses" by Alice in Chains
* "Turn The Page" by Bob Seger
* "Hell Bent For Leather" by Judas Priest
* "Demon Cleaner" by Kyuss
* "Tuesdays Gone" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
* "Blood and Thunder" by Mastodon
* "Armed and Ready" by Michael Schenker Group
* "Mother of Mercy" by Samhain
* "Black River" by The Sword
* Additional songs from Foo Fighters, Queen, and Slayer

Other highlights from the article include Metallica and Slayer-inspired audio samples for custom songs in GHTunes, a new freestyle drum mode, and DVD-style special features like tour footage and photos. Most exciting -- for rhythmically advanced players, anyway -- is the implementation of an Expert Plus mode for drums, which will allow players to take advantage of an additional bass pedal. At long last, pro-level drummers will be able to experience the unbridled ferocity of double-bass-heavy Metallica songs without snapping all of the tendons in their right leg.
